Beat 24: Wiggaton

About Beat 24: Wiggaton

Important notice – Due to high water temperatures (exceeding 18c) and its impact on fish welfare, we’ve made the decision to temporarily close this Beat. We’ll be assessing conditions over the coming weeks and will open this Beat when safe to do so. Apologies for any inconvenience caused by this. With just over a mile of LHB, Wiggaton has long provided good brown trout fishing and, at times, good numbers of grayling. There is a good head of trout around the 10” mark, although it has produced monster 2lb-ers in the past. The beat has several deep corner pools and fishy spots, and usually benefits from a good mayfly hatch. Wading is recommended, and the use of a wading staff is advised. 2019 welcomed a cracking brownie of 17” along with a good number of Grayling. This beat has recently benefitted from habitat management on the lower section and some access creation in the mid-section.
