With 600m of LHB, Clam end is a lovely and secluded section of the wonderful River Inny with brown trout and grayling fishing that may offer the chance of salmon and sea trout in late season. Trout season runs from 15 March to 30 September and Salmon 1 March to 14 October, Grayling can be fished until 31 October. This stretch is set in a steep valley that has created three good holding pools which provide the best opportunities for salmon and sea trout fishing. The rest of the river is pocket water that fishes well for trout and grayling. This beat is often lightly fished due to the very, very steep way down to it. It is worth the walk though, the Inny is a cracking river, renowned for brown trout and grayling. The price remains just two tokens, if you don’t mind a walk you will not be disappointed. And if the feeling takes you, why not bring a tent and camp by the river? Any of the beat bank downstream of the track end is free for anglers to pitch up and enjoy them selves. There are no facilities at all, this is wild...
Information & restrictions
Fly, spin and worm (this beat is fly only before 16 June) fly and spin only after 31 August. No spinning for grayling. All trout under 7” must be returned, no more than 2 trout, 2 sea trout or 1 salmon to be retained per day. Please return all grayling.
Feel free to fish the Garden section, this is part of the beat. However, the opposite bank owner strictly denies fishing on his side so please stay firmly to the left-hand bank half (when looking downstream).
Directions & access
From Launceston take the B3254 to South Petherwin. Once through South Petherwin take the first left. Proceed to Larrick (right, left at junctions) and once in Larrick follow the road around to the left and then take the next right. Wind your way through until you find a gate (Clam End) on the right. The track down is very, very steep, if in doubt as to your car’s ability to get back up, park at the top and walk down. If you are confident, drive down and park by the box at the end of the track.
