Beat 32: Clam End

About Beat 32: Clam End

Temporarily closed due to COVID-19. With 600m of LHB, Clam end is a lovely wild, secluded section of the lovely River Inny with brown trout and grayling fishing that offers the chance of salmon and sea trout in late season. Trout season runs from 15 March to 30 September and Salmon 1 March to 14 October, Grayling can be fished until 31 October. This stretch is set in a steep valley that has three good holding pools, these provide the best opportunities for Salmon and sea trout fishing. The rest of the river is pocket water that fishes well for trout and grayling. This beat is often lightly fished due to the very, very steep walk down. It is worth the walk though, the Inny is a cracking river, renowned for brown trout and grayling. 2019 was a fantastic year, with multiple stonking Grayling over the 2lb mark and plenty of trout over 1lb landed! The price remains just two tokens, if you don’t mind a walk you will not be disappointed. And if the feeling takes you, why not bring a tent and camp by the river? Any of the beat bank downstream of the track end is free for anglers to pitch up and enjoy themselves. There are no facilities at all, this is wild...

Proceed to Larrick (right, left at junctions) and once in Larrick follow the road around to the left and then take the next right. Wind your way through until you find a gate (Clam End) on the right. The track down is very, very steep, if in doubt as to your car’s ability to get back up, park at the top and walk down. If you are confident, drive down and park by the box at the end of the track.
