About Beat 3: Champerhaies

Around 1.9Km of double bank fishing, this is a nice section of open river reminiscent of the Windrush. It provides good brown trout fishing during the spring and summer and usually produces fish to over 1lb. There is also a lovely mix of coarse fish present with chub, dace, roach, perch and pike with all year round sport if you can locate them. The river is relatively easy to fish with a lovely pool – riffle – glide sequence. Trout capture has not diminished and last year saw anglers catching up to 28 trout per session, with some brownies reaching 1lb. The mix of coarse fish has really livened this piece of river up, with Chub up to 2lb caught in 2019.
