Important notice – Due to high water temperatures (exceeding 18c) and its impact on fish welfare, we’ve made the decision to temporarily close this Beat. We’ll be assessing conditions over the coming weeks and will open this Beat when safe to do so. Apologies for any inconvenience caused by this.
This is a secluded stretch of about 1200m of left hand single bank with a nice mix of riffles, runs and some lovely big pools. Trout fishing with a chance of a sea trout or possibly a salmon, given good water. Usually lightly fished, possibly due to the walk to access the water, this beat remains productive to the few anglers who fish it regularly, often producing a really decent stamp of brown trout. Plenty of fish in the 10” range for those that give it a go.

No more than 1 salmon, 2 sea trout to be retained per day. Sorry, no dogs. Brown trout season 15th March - 30 September. Salmon Season March 1st - 30th September.

On the A377 at Eggesford Station take the B3042 east to Chawleigh for 1.7miles and bear left at Hollow Tree Cross on to the B3096. 50 or so yards along on the right you will see double gates with a sign saying Blue Fox Glade, Target Sports, etc. Open and go through the gates closing them behind you. Either park inside the gates being sure not to block the track or proceed 250m down the track and park adjacent to the log piles on the right; the token box is by the log piles next to a willow. You can then proceed down the track to the beat on foot.
