1,000m of mixed banks on the Ottery & 700m of RHB on the Tamar, located a stone’s throw from Netherbridge, anglers have realised that this beat is a cracker. Trout season runs from 15 March to 30 September and Salmon 1 March to 14 October, Grayling can be fished until 14 October. Ham mill offers lovely trout fishing, especially during the Mayfly season. The Ottery above the bridge offers the chance of a sea trout with the first peal likely to arrive in late June; they have been caught on dry fly and nymph by day. Despite some truly horrid conditions through 2019, the fishing at Ham mill has remained outstanding, Large trout up to 18” have been tempted on the fly, and grayling hitting the 15” mark have also been recorded. Anglers can expect fish in numbers, it is not uncommon to land 10+ good sized fish in a short session. The varied habitat on this beat is clearly benefitting its resident fish, making this beat one to try.
