Beat 58: Kingscombe

About Beat 58: Kingscombe

800m of RHB fishing on a productive and beautiful section of the River Inny, 7 pools intermixed with various Glides and riffles offers fly anglers some of the best Brown trout and Grayling fishing in the West Country. The bottom of the Beat is Tree lined with some open sections, the access here is good, and anglers can find opportunity to cast from the bank in several places, although wading allows anglers to cover the waters more thoroughly. The Mid section of the Beat is Tree lined with a steep bank on the RHB, for this section, wading up though the river is best for covering the water. The upper section is also tree lined but the historic floodplain allows for better access into and along the river, wading will again open the most opportunity for anglers. Kingscombe can be approached with any fly set up from a 0-5wt 5-10’ fly rod. We’ve been lucky enough to fish Kingscombe for Grayling through the Autumn and Winter months and have been lucky enough to catch Grayling up to 17” and Out of season brown trout to 14”, after the fish we’ve caught, we cannot wait to see what else is caught from this Beat.
